Diddy funded, prepped Thanksgiving dinner for 1,000 fellow inmates: report

Sean “Diddy” Combs reportedly organized and funded an elaborate Thanksgiving dinner — at least by prison standards — for 1,000 of his fellow inmates at New Jersey’s FCI Fort Dix . A rep for the Bad Boy Records founder, who’s currently serving a 50-month term for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, told TMZ that he worked with an internal group called Bankroll Bosses to purchase the provisions from the commissary and spent two days preparing the food . They then distributed the food to every housing unit at Fort Dix, “enough for about 200 people [in] each building,” according to former gang leader B.I., who helped organize the dinner. The traditional menu is said to have included turkey roast and trimmings, mashed potatoes, corn and a holiday dessert. “Thanksgiving, to me, is about making sure other people eat,” Combs told the outlet. “Everybody misses their family. People get depressed during the holidays. We just wanted to come together as a family and d...

NJ sisters killed trying to rescue father from house fire on Thanksgiving

Two New Jersey sisters died Thanksgiving night while trying to rescue their father from a fast-moving house fire in Essex County. The deadly Orange Township fire started around 5 p.m., investigators said. Witnesses said they saw “enormous” flames coming from the Mosswood Avenue home and alerted authorities. The response was prompt, with firefighters arriving within two minutes of the alert, neighbor Claire Stevens told ABC 7 New York. Unfortunately, there was not enough time to save 49-year-old Frantzia Fleury and 42-year-old Pojanee Fleury, who reportedly died while trying to rescue their father, who lives with a disability. The Fleury sisters were pronounced dead at the scene at 6:47 p.m., Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Orange Fire Department Chief Derrick Brown told the Daily News in a statement on Friday. The father, who has not been named, and six other people were able to get out safely and were not injured. The cause of the blaze remains under inv...

Woman, 68, flung into Midtown building in random Thanksgiving Day attack

A 68-year-old woman was hospitalized after she was elbowed from behind and knocked face-first into a Midtown building during an apparently random Thanksgiving Day attack, police sources said Friday. The victim was walking along Fifth Ave. near W. 47th St. at about 8:43 p.m. Thursday when a man with a beard and ponytail stepped up behind her and elbowed her in the back, cops said. The unsuspecting woman was knocked off balance and fell toward the building she was walking past, hitting the façade. EMS rushed her to Mount Sinai West with deep cuts and scrapes to her face and head. The man who elbowed her, who was wearing a green jacket, black pants and was carrying a black backpack, ran off. No arrests have been made. It’s not believed the woman had any interaction with the man who elbowed her beforehand, a police source with knowledge of the case said. Cops on Friday were scouring the area for surveillance images of the attacker. Anyone with information regarding this incident ...

Fuzzy Zoeller, two-time major champion golfer, dies at 74

Fuzzy Zoeller, the professional golfer who won a Masters, a U.S. Open and millions of fans with his gregarious personality, has died. He was 74. Zoeller’s death was announced Thursday by his daughter. His cause and location of death were not released. Though he earned legions of fans, Zoeller’s career took a nosedive after he made a racist joke about Tiger Woods at the 1997 Masters. Woods was in the middle of a dominant victory when Zoeller commented on what he would serve at the following year’s champions dinner. “That little boy is driving well and he’s putting well. He’s doing everything it takes to win. So, you know what you guys do when he gets in here? You pat him on the back and say congratulations and enjoy it and tell him to not serve fried chicken next year,” Zoeller said. “Or collard greens or whatever the hell they serve .” The comments haunted Zoeller for the rest of his career and even out of the spotlight following his retirement. He apologized numerous times but...

Under a cloud, the Olympic flame begins its journey to the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics

By DEREK GATOPOULOS and PETROS GIANNAKOURIS ANCIENT OLYMPIA, Greece (AP) — The Olympic flame began its journey Wednesday to the Milan Cortina Winter Games — missing a little of its usual magic. Bad weather lashing western Greece forced organizers to move the torch-lighting ceremony indoors, from Olympia’s ancient stadium and temples to a nearby museum. The flame is lit by focusing the sun’s rays with a concave mirror. But with skies overcast, officials used a backup flame kindled during a brief spell of sunshine at Monday’s rehearsal. Greek rower Petros Gaidatzis launched the torch relay, which, after reaching Italy, will be carried across the host country by about 10,000 runners before the Feb. 6–22 competition. The sun ultimately made an appearance over rain-soaked OIympia on Wednesday during the indoor ceremony. “It’s incredibly memorable and a little bit emotional for me to be standing here,” said IOC President Kirsty Coventry, who was overseeing her first torch lighting after...

Councilwoman Nantasha Williams, a Democrat who represents a slice of southeastern Queens, plans to introduce a bill Tuesday to enact the raises, according to three sources familiar with the matter. In his first year with the Nets, Michael Porter Jr. is backing up his words

Freed from the shadow of Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray in Denver, Michael Porter Jr . vowed to become a go-to scorer with the Nets . Over the last five games since Cam Thomas went down with a hamstring injury, he’s done exactly that. The former NBA champion has averaged 27.3 points over that stretch, highlighted by a season-high 34 on 11-for-18 shooting in Brooklyn’s 129-106 win over the Wizards on Sunday. His turnovers have climbed to 2.3 per game from 1.4 last season in Denver and his overall efficiency has dipped slightly, but his shot-making has been undeniable. He’s also getting to the free throw line more frequently than at any point in his career, a sign of his growing assertiveness as a primary scorer. There’s still work to be done if Porter is going to fully grow into this role, but it’s clear he’s improved in the areas the Nets needed most. He’s hunting contact, creating his own looks and carrying stretches of the offense in a way he rarely had to in Denver. For a team sea...

NYPD sergeant accused of posing as ICE agent, ordering family report to immigration facility

An NYPD sergeant faces federal charges he impersonated an ICE official and demanded a victim report with their family to an ICE location. Sgt. Atickul Islam, 29, who joined the NYPD in 2018 and became a sergeant in 2023, was indicted in Brooklyn Federal Court. The details in the one-paragraph indictment are slim — it alleges Islam, who also goes by the name “James W. Anderson,” claimed to be the New York field office director for ICE when he contacted the victim on March 29. He then demanded the victim and the victim’s family report to an ICE location in New York City by April 15, according to the indictment. The indictment offers no details as to how Islam knew or came into contact with the victim, though a court filing says the alleged crime took place in Queens. A source familiar with the case said the allegations are not related to his duties on the job. The NYPD did not immediately return a message seeking comment. He’s slated to be arraigned in Brooklyn Federal Court Tue...

Where the Giants and Jets are projected to pick in the 2026 NFL Draft

It’s not even Thanksgiving yet, but 2026 NFL Draft watch is already on for the Giants and Jets . If the season had ended after Sunday’s slate of games, the Giants (2-9) and Jets (2-8) would both be picking in the top five of April’s draft. With Sunday’s 27-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers , the Giants moved from No. 3 in the draft order to No. 2. The Jets are in line to pick No. 5. Their position remained unchanged from last week, despite the Jets losing to the New England Patriots , 27-14, on Thursday night. Here’s the top of the draft order as it stood going into Monday, according to Tankathon : Tennessee Titans (1-9) Giants (2-9)  Cleveland Browns (2-8) New Orleans Saints (2-8) Jets (2-8) Las Vegas Raiders (2-7), before Monday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys Washington Commanders (3-8) And while plenty can — and surely will — change in the final seven weeks of the season, the Giants and Jets are both squarely in the mix for the No. 1 overall pick. The Jet...

Jaxson Dart leak, Joe Schoen national interview set stage for wild Giants season finish

The Giants ‘ 27-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers at MetLife Stadium, in the team’s first game since Brian Daboll’s firing , wasn’t even Sunday’s main event. Someone put concussed franchise quarterback Jaxson Dart on blast with a leak to ESPN, saying that “people both inside and outside the Giants organization spoke with Dart and urged the rookie quarterback to be more thoughtful and careful with when and how he runs.” The report said “Dart has been told repeatedly, especially this past week, that missing games hurts his team more than not gaining extra yards and that he can’t help his team if he’s not in the game.” And ESPN specifically pointed out that “Giants quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney,” Daboll’s buddy who remains on the staff, “has shown Dart videos of multiple quarterbacks and pointed out the difference between being aggressive and acting in self-preservation.” Then FOX aired a report saying that GM Joe Schoen, who did not do an interview this week after Daboll’s firing, ha...

Jeffrey Epstein was dismayed Trump dodged scrutiny as sex abuse scandal exploded

Exiled by the elite after his conviction for sexually soliciting a teenage girl and failing to rehabilitate his image as a sexual predator, an embittered Jeffrey Epstein in 2011 believed his old friend Donald Trump had escaped scrutiny. “I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump,” Epstein wrote to his longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell that April, noting Trump had “spent hours at my house” with Virginia Giuffre, one of the most prominent women to speak out about being abused by the financier, who died by suicide in April.
