Boy, 15, arrested for bomb threat at Long Beach High School

A 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a bomb threat at Long Beach High School on Long Island, police said Thursday.

The teen, who was not identified due to his age, was charged with one count of making a terroristic threat and released, according to Nassau County police. He’s due back in court on Oct. 9.

Cops said the arrest was in connection with a threat on Sept. 16 at Long Beach High, which resulted in the school going into lockdown for several hours. Normal operations resumed after police cleared the building, which sits about 20 miles southeast of Central Park.

The threat was the second within seven days at the school. On Sept. 10, the 1,300-student school was also locked down for the threat of an active shooter.

In both cases, the school was cleared with no injuries. No arrests have been announced in connection with the fake shooter threat.

High school, colleges and grade schools have all been dealing with a variety of false threats since school resumed across the nation. In some cases, the threats have been connected to an online network that offers to make prank threats in exchange for money.

But in addition to the numerous hoaxes, there have been real shootings at schools in Minnesota and Colorado during the 2025-26 school year.

Marathon proceedings in Luigi Mangione’s state homicide case came to a close Thursday, as Manhattan prosecutors and lawyers for the suspected killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson rested without calling any more witnesses. The Queens single mom clinging to life after being savagely beaten and robbed of her e-bike on Randalls Island was left unconscious on the ground for nearly six hours before she was discovered by a passerby the next morning, the Daily News has learned.
