A New York judge has ruled that Republican Rep. Nicole Malliotakis’ Staten Island-based congressional district unconstitutionally discriminates against minority voters , potentially opening the door to Democrats grabbing the seat. State Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey Pearlman ordered the state’s independent redistricting commission to draw a new map by Feb. 6 , which would allow it be used in this year’s midterm elections. Republicans plan to appeal the ruling and it’s likely to wind up being decided by the Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court. The new map would be expected to connect Staten Island to a portion of deep-blue lower Manhattan instead of its current makeup including a slice of GOP friendly south Brooklyn. As Andersen’s vehicle moved at the rear of the column, everything was normal — until in one instant the world turned sand-colored. His body shook violently. “I had no idea what was going on,” he recalled. He ran his hands over his arms and legs to make sure they were still there. Temperatures in New York City reached new lows for the 2025-26 winter season on Tuesday, a preview of even lower temperatures expected to arrive over the weekend. The high temperature in Central Park was only 23 degrees on Tuesday, with a 10-degree wind chill. Meanwhile, the overnight lows were expected to drop to 18 degrees with a 9-degree wind chill, according to the National Weather Service. But that will seem almost balmy by Saturday, when the predicted high is only 16 degrees . Conditions are hardly expected to improve on Sunday, with a forecast high of 19 degrees. Former NBA star Lamar Odom was arrested for driving under the influence in Las Vegas, officials said Sunday. The 46-year-old Queens native was pulled over while driving more than 40 mph over the speed limit and improperly changing lanes, TMZ reported. He has since posted bail and was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Tuesday. Odom, who was married to Khloe Kardashian from 2009 to 2016, has a long history of substance abuse issues. He was previously busted for DUI in 2013 in Los Angeles , then reportedly went to rehab for one day . He received three years of probation in that case.
